"Tukko - Traffic Visualizer" is an open-source software application, initially created by Team IotTitude in WIMMA Lab 2023. Its purpose is to present real-time traffic conditions on a map interface. With Tukko, users can locate areas of potential congestion and plan their routes accordingly. In addition to traffic flow data, Tukko provides other useful data such as car volume on specific roads through LAM (Liikenteen Automaattiset Mittaustiedot) stations, as well as the locations of ongoing road construction projects.
The data is presented through a user interface built on React, featuring mapping tools powered by Leaflet and enhanced with various plugins like Geoman and Cluster markers. Tukko aims for intuitive information delivery through custom icons, pop-ups, and tooltips.
This project aims to enhance Tukko by expanding its potential user base to Sweden, integrating traffic data from three counties in the country, and providing localization in the Swedish language. Additionally, it introduces dark mode color enhancements to improve user experience in low-light environments. Furthermore, the project includes features such as the ability to search for specific locations using a search bar and compare different LAM stations side by side.
